The infrared image enhancing method comprises the following steps that it is assumed that all pixel data of the k<th> frame of image are read, a gray level histogram of the k<th> frame of image is counted firstly, and a gray level weighted average value (av) of all pixels is obtained according to the histogram; then, according to the image gray level sampling range [a, b] in the image and by combining the gray level weighted average value, a gamma correction curve is determined comprehensively; and finally, the k<th> frame of image is subjected to gamma correction enhancing through the gamma correction curve. In the infrared image enhancing method, dynamic calculation of the gray level sampling range utilizes information of an image scene and gray level distribution to the maximum extent; and through dynamic correction of the correction curve, the infrared image enhancing method can be suitable for image enhancing of a specific target scene and also suitable for real-time adaptive image enhancing of different scenes.
